The move and the next six months

As I mentioned in my previous post, Seth and I are MOVING BACK TO INDIANA!

Ah, so crazy!

We've sort of mapped out what's going to be happening for the next six months or so - until we are able to buy our own home - and I wanted to be able to share it with you guys, since many of my posts over the next several months will be covering all this activity!

We are moving at the end of August, over the weekend of the 28th. We have family flying in on the 27th to help us finish packing and get the truck loaded, and we are having our apartment professionally cleaned on Sunday, the 30th. We plan on doing the long trek back that day. It's going to suck. Haha!

Our living situation for the next six months is going to be a little off-beat, but I'm excited for all the fun planning I get to do (I know, I'm so type-A). My mother-in-law just bought a house (she's downsizing), so we are going to be living in her current house and helping her get it ready to sell next spring (she's pretty awesome to offer this opportunity to us). It doesn't need a lot of work, but helping her move, painting, having some carpets replaced and staging the house is basically what we're going to be up to. I plan to bring you guys lots of posts of our various projects and goings-on surrounding prepping a house for sale!

In the meantime, we are both going to be working and saving up some cash-ola in order to buy our first home. I wrote in this post about what we plan to look for in our first home. I'm hoping we will have something purchased around March-ish, do any reno work that needs done, get it cleaned, painted and decorated, then we can move in once my mother-in-law's house is sold. It's going to be so nice having that buffer between moving back to Indiana and buying our first home - it will give us a chance to really look for something we love instead of being rushed to just find something. We are so lucky to have the support system we have.

Things I am looking forward to:
Seeing our parents more
Seeing my girlfriends more
My girlfriend's baby shower (EEK!)
Going to Riley Days for the first time in FIVE YEARS!
Helping my mother in law with her new and old houses
Hunting for and buying our first home
Decorating our first home (especially my office) *heart eyes emoji*

Okay, the more I list out, the more excited I am! Maybe I just need to carry this list around with me. ;)

Thanks for reading my silly updates, ya'll - back to your regularly scheduled programming with my next post. ;) Please feel free to follow via email, follow me on Facebook here, and on Twitter here so you never miss another update!

    1. It's so hard to wait! I keep looking and toying with sending or realtor to look at things we technically aren't ready to buy yet. HA! So impatient!

    1. I feel like we need an Indy blogger's' group! We will be in Noblesville for six months or so (just like you were!) then we are looking at the Fishers/Geist area to settle down.

    1. I haut can't imagine raising our kids away from their grandparents! Maybe one day we will retire somewhere else, but at least during our "family years" we really value being near our parents.

    1. For sure! I'm trying so hard to take it one step at a time and not get impatient or ahead of myself but it's so hard!

  6. How exciting! Make sure take pictures before you do any work to your mom's house and then the after pics of when it's staged. I always do renovations and forget to take the before pics. Good luck with the move and finding your next home!

    1. Me too! I actually have a post on here of some DIY furniture remodels we've done and on a few of them I had to be like, "sorry no before pic!" -___- I'll definitely have to remember to get them this time!

  9. Congratulations on your move. You have the perfect set up for purchasing a home. It's really beneficial when you don't have to worry about carrying a current lease. We've crashed at my parents during each other our moves to various apartments.

    1. Exactly! I think the buffer of six months or so will actually be nice, and will give us time to really look for a place and not feel rushed into buying something!
